The new year is officially here and many of us are knee-deep in detoxing. Amazing! You’re a better person than me. If you’re a sweet-toothed dessert enthusiast like myself I’m currently drowning in the whole concept and longing to go back to the festive days where it was acceptable to terminate a selection box in one sitting and have three portions of everything single thing in sight.
Here at Raw Bake Station, my duty is to make the latter of those two types of people content, by offering healthy alternatives to the treats we crave without the guilt that usually comes with indulging. Let’s be honest: Anything that seriously satisfies our sweet tooth isn’t going to be the epitome of a healthy meal. Though all of these snacks contain (gasp!) sugar, we aimed to find lower-sugar options that offer something beneficial, whether it be a sneaky superfood or additional nutrients like fibre or protein. With help from a range of healthy associations and websites, I’ve compiled a list of guilt free treats that will keep your taste buds satisfied that aren’t so calorific.
Blogger and chef ‘Topped With Cinnamon’ created this beautiful guilt free recipe after: ‘I decided that I a) needed chocolate. It was a major craving (that’s why this is triple chocolate :/) but b) didn’t want to feel crap after eating it (and actually wanted it to be filling)’. Perfect, just what we need! Check it out.
If you’re a sucker for a peanut butter and banana sandwich, or even ice cream, then you will LOVE this healthy peanut butter pie. It’s creamy, rich, and sweet. You keep it frozen and thaw for 20 minutes before serving, and then it’s just like ice cream – it melts in your mouth. Bliss.
In only 10 minutes you can create a taste sensation that isn’t going to bust the zip on your new jeans. Made with almond butter and greek yoghurt, this healthy alternative is really going to please those cravings.
This is one of the desserts that you can serve to your troublesome kids without them even realising it’s healthy. If it can fool them – it can fool your tastebuds! As the summer months slowly approach, this refreshing dessert will definitely be a hit at the BBQ. Get practising!
