As we’re an all raw foods company, I thought it may be of your interest to understand a little more on raw.
It seems we are becoming more health conscious as a world which is fabulous yet many of us still make bad food choices and see no wrong.
Now I’m not saying never eat a chocolate bar or a fast food meal but be aware that what you’re continuously putting into your body is affecting your physical and mental health.
When researching on this topic: I came across a statement made by Dr. C . Everett Koop, a former American general surgeon.
“Food sustains us,… Yet what we eat may affect our risk for several of the leading causes of death for Americans, notably, coronary heart disease, stroke, arteriosclerosis, diabetes, and some types of cancer. These disorders together now account for more than two-thirds of all deaths in the United States.”
With this in mind, you must understand that because we have so many options of ready meals, cheap meat, and quick snacks; we are being consumed by a retail world that cares nothing less than the money in their pockets. These foods are all riddled with chemicals, additives and have little nutritional value. These foods are what cause illnesses. Our bodies were not designed to absorb man made chemicals…
So… Why Raw?
As raw food is kept in the purest and natural form, it means that there is nothing artificial that your body will be harmed by.
When we cook things, we actually destroy the vital and essential nutrients that we need to stay healthy. Cooking food actually kills off plenty of the enzymes that our bodies NEED to naturally digest…. It’s a no brainer?!
Now I’m not going to sit here and say I eat raw 24/7… because I don’t but I do make a conscious effort to eat Raw or choose things that aren’t processed and full of rubbish.
So why not start today: swap that ready meal for something home made or better yet try out a raw dish! They are super easy and just as delicious.
I will follow up this blog post with one of my favourite raw dishes so you can have a go yourself if you are struggling with ideas.
Before your next mouthful… think more! THINK RAW.
